commonly used to treat diseases caused by bacterial infections.
This is betalactamase-resistant antimicrobial and exerts bactericidal
action on both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organism. It is used mainly
to treat infections of the middle ear, sinuses, bladder, kidney, and uncomplicated
gonorrhoea. The US FDA has approved the generic drug Ampicillin in 1963.
